Stories from Behind the Camera
The idea behind the Republic of YOUmanity initiative sparked 36 hours before London went into its second Lockdown. The initiative’s aim is to bring our local community together, in a time of isolation and disconnectedness, in aid of CW+ the official charity of the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and their COVID-19 efforts. Where politics fails, art, dialogue and story telling wins. Now is the time to turn the camera lens away from the I to the YOU and the WE.
YOUmanity is turning the streets of Chelsea and Kensington into a collaborative pop-up gallery through an array of powerful humanity-related images by American award winning photographer and founder of Republic of Humanity (@republicofhumanity), David Taggart. Many of David’s globe spanning images will be on display for your visual pleasure throughout the windows and Instagram accounts of selected retailers and partner friends over the month of November.
You too can help your community and the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, by purchasing a one-off signed print:
Edition of 10 per image (from a selection of 50 images available for purchase HERE)
Size: A2 (42 x 60cm / 16.5 x 23.5 inches)
Price: £100 per print (plus shipment)
100% of proceeds will benefit CW+ the official charity of the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust
Although retail doors will remain closed during this period, select shop windows (see HERE for examples) will open community hearts and minds to a more compassionate, a more inclusive and a more empathetic view of our humanity and of our community.
The Republic of YOUmanity initiative in association with Republic of Humanity, the MOP foundation and the project’s media partner, LUX magazine would like to thank all the independent retailers in the Chelsea and Kensington communities who have lent their space, their voice, their social media platforms and their hearts to this project.
Wishing everyone a peaceful and safe end of 2020.
The Republic of YOUmanity team:
David Taggart and Republic of Humanity

Project goes live as of Friday 13th November.
Prints will be shipped on Tuesday 15th
The project remains live until 13th December 2020.
CW+ the official charity of the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust
In response to the COVID-19 outbreak CW+ the official charity of the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust has launched a dedicated Rapid Response Fund to help staff provide the best possible care to those in need, especially as it relates to new Intensive Care beds, new digital solutions to monitor and communicate with patients and carers, as well as enhanced training for frontline staff to support the needs of both patients and staff.
